Overview
 


The Unit is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for User Departments in the Council in compliance with Supply Chain Management prescripts as well as Constitutional requirements.

Objectives of the Unit

  • To support Municipal Departments with implementation of Supply Chain Management
  • To maximise administrative and operational efficiency in the implementation of SCM
  • To monitor, evaluate and strengthen compliance to Supply Chain Management
  • To analyse spending trends of the Municipality and introduce measures to promote Preferential Procurement objectives.

 

Functions of the Units            

  • To source/procure goods and services for the Municipality
  • To render advisory services to User department for appropriate implementation of Supply Chain Management.
  • To establish and maintain functional Database
  • To assist members of the public so as to participate meaningfully in the public sector procurement market.
  • To assist and support Bid Committees
  • To ensure Supply Chain Management practitioners and committee members are adequately prepared/ trained on matters pertaining to SCM
  • To produce monthly reports providing analysis on spending trends.
  • To address objections lodged by unsuccessful bidders.
